As I was perusing the Booksneeze site for my next book to review, I selected Living Life In the Zone by Kyle Rote, Jr. and Dr. Joe Pettigrew. I initially selected this book because of its sports references, but as I quickly found out the book contained many references to business, education and the like.

This book takes you on a 40-Day journey to help you find a better version of yourself or to improve in areas where you need to grow.

Each day is structured the same with:

  • Thoughts for the day
  • Devotional message
  • Scripture passages for growth
  • Stories about a famous leader (i.e. sports figure, business leader or educator)
  • Further exploration activities

These activities cause you to reflect upon your own life and really begin to take a look at areas of your life or heart that need to change and be molded so that you can become a little more like Christ.

I found the personal testimonies of the leaders in the “Playmakers” section to be the most inspirational and allow you to see the value of the that particular day lived out in someone’s life.

The book concludes with a small group discussion guide that will allow you to quickly and easily translate this information to a men’s group for applicability. If you are looking for some men’s small group material that focuses attention on the spiritual as well as the practical with a hint of sports, this is the book for you.
